Fusion IP Spot – Cardiff IP Group acquired a strategic stake in Fusion IP plc in 2009 and also entered into an agreement with Fusion under which it acquired co-investment rights in all future Fusion portfolio companies.

Fusion owns the exclusive commercialisation rights to 100 per cent of university-owned intellectual property generated at two of the UK's leading universities – the University of Sheffield and Cardiff University.

Formed in 1883, Cardiff University is recognised in independent government assessments as one of Britain's leading teaching and research universities.

Founded by Royal Charter in 1883, Cardiff’s breadth of expertise in research and research-led teaching encompasses the humanities; natural, physical, health, life and social sciences; engineering and technology. Our exclusive 10 year agreement, signed in December 2006, allows access to IP generated from across the university.

Cardiff is a member of the Russell Group of Britain's leading research intensive universities. Its most recent award winner is Prof. Sir Martin Evans FRS who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in September 2007, the most prestigious honour in world science.

The Nobel Assembly announced Sir Martin as one of three winners for “a series of ground-breaking discoveries concerning embryonic stem cells and DNA recombination in mammals.”

Fusion works with the university’s technology transfer division RACD to identify opportunities and create start-up businesses from their world class research.
