Top Technology
IP Group acquired Top Technology Ventures, a venture capital company which specialises in providing equity funding for early stage technology based growth companies, in June 2004. Top Technology Ventures was founded in 1986 and has earned a reputation for significant expertise in the early stage UK technology sector.
The investment team manages funds with original commitments totalling approximately £43 million. Top Technology Ventures currently manages three funds: (1) HATT III, which has a co-investment agreement with a Danish institution and with original commitments totalling £25 million raised in 1996/7; and (2) Top Technology Ventures IV, which has a similar co-investment arrangement as HATT III and is currently investing funds with original commitments of £17.8 million. In addition, Top Technology Ventures manages IP Venture Fund, a venture capital fund which was established in July 2006 in partnership with the European Investment Fund.
