Corporate Profile
IP Group’s core business is the creation of value for its shareholders and partners through the commercialisation of intellectual property originating from research intensive institutions.
At the time that the Company was founded in 2001, it had a single university partnership (the University of Oxford). Today it has long-term partnerships with ten universities in total in the UK. In November 2009, IP Group signed an investment and co-investment agreement with Fusion IP plc, which owns the exclusive commercialisation rights to 100 per cent of university-owned intellectual property generated at two of the UK's leading universities - the University of Sheffield and Cardiff University.
IP Group has been highly successful in creating value for its shareholders and its partners to date. Eleven of its portfolio companies have listed on the Alternative Investment Market, one on PLUS Markets and there have been four trade sales.
In addition to this core activity of commercialising intellectual property with its partners, IP Group has one key subsidiary -- Top Technology Ventures.
