Retroscreen Virology Ltd - Appoints Jody Cheng as Vice President, Translational Research

Retroscreen Virology Limited, a global leader in anti-viral research, clinical trials and experimental challenge studies, is pleased to announce that Dr Jody KN Cheng has been appointed Vice President, Translational Research with immediate effect. Jody will assume overall responsibility for Retroscreen’s analytical and laboratory capabilities.

Jody brings to Retroscreen over twenty years of project and laboratory management experience from within the CRO industry. Jody’s commercial background in contract-research will prove invaluable as Retroscreen continues to expand the depth and breadth of its service offerings.

Jody began his career in conducting clinical trials at the Medical Research Council in the UK. In 1989, Jody joined a major UK-based CRO, during which time he was responsible for growing the departmental business in terms of revenue and scientific reputation. In 1998, Jody was part of the founding team of a university spin-out CRO where he had overall responsibility for the commercial P&L performance of the Laboratory Sciences Division. During this period, Jody oversaw consistent year-on-year growth in both sales and operational capacity. In addition to extensive commercial experience, Jody also brings to Retroscreen significant technical know-how as well as extensive operational management experience.

Following the appointment of Jody as Vice President, Translational Research, Sumitava Dutta will continue in the role of overseeing Analytical Services operations and business development activities as Director, Analytical Services Operations.

This appointment further strengthens the Retroscreen senior management group, following the appointments, in 2009, of William Turner as COO and Kym Denny as Director of Clinical Services, Kym will now also take on the position of Vice President, Clinical Services. We expect to be making further strategic hires in due course."
