Achim has been working in the entrepreneurial cleantech sector for the last 10 years after raising government grant funding for his water disinfection technology start-up. He launched his career at the Cleantech Fraunhofer Institute IUSE as an expert for membrane process development mainly for water applications but also got involved in a wide range of other industrial cleantech projects. Later he joined McKinsey & Company initially in the Düsseldorf and then the London Office as a strategy consultant working across a variety of client industries addressing mainly strategic but also operational client issues. Achim received his Chemical Engineering Diploma and Dr Degrees from Universities in Karlsruhe (KIT) and Dortmund, Germany. He also holds an MBA from Kellogg. While being involved in a wide variety of physics investment projects and companies at IP Group, he is specifically interested in graphene and water related opportunities.

Aidong has over 25 years’ experience in engineering, technical marketing and consultancy in diverse industries. Prior to joining IP Group in 2014, following the acquisition of Fusion IP plc, Aidong held senior management roles with Infineon Technologies (Austria), GE Energy, Cambridge Semiconductor and senior consultant role with The Technology Partnership.

Alan was the joint founder and Chief Executive of Techtran Group Ltd, the first company in Europe to offer a complete outsourced technology transfer function to universities. Techtran was acquired by IP Group in 2005. From 1995-2002 Alan was a partner in KPMG where he specialised in providing advice to fast growing technology businesses. Alan holds a BA in Economics from the University of Leeds, an MBA with Distinction from the University of Bradford and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Alan is also Non-Executive Chairman of Proactis Holdings plc, an AIM-listed software company based in York, and Non-executive Director of Oxford Sciences Innovation plc.

Alastair joined IP Group in 2014 and brings over ten years of Venture Capital, Private Equity and Investment Banking experience to the Group. He began his career at JPMorgan and has gained both investment and strategy experience at leading financial institutions, investment firms and the NHS. He now works closely with the Group’s Healthcare and Biotech divisions, as well undertaking projects at Group level. He holds a BSc in Biology and has an MBA from London Business School.

Alex has worked in several financial institutions, including working in the portfolio team at Hg Capital LLP, and she started her career at Lehman Brothers. Althea joined IP Group in 2016 as Associate, Life Sciences, to contribute to IP Group’s efforts to identify and develop early-stage technologies in the life sciences. In this role, Althea is responsible for identifying promising technology opportunities, completing due diligence and developing business plans. Althea was previously at the University of Pennsylvania, working for the Penn Center for Innovation as an Assistant Director, Licensing. She managed a large and diverse technology portfolio and was responsible for the associated intellectual property decisions, commercialization endeavors and agreement negotiations. Althea’s portfolio at Penn consisted of technologies that ranged from neurosurgery to genetics and bioengineering. Additionally, Althea has extensive research background in neuroscience, genetics and molecular biology. She holds a PhD in Genetics from Yale University and a BA in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.

In addition to providing legal services at group level and co-ordinating external legal requirements, Angela also provides ad hoc legal support to IP Group’s portfolio of spin-out companies created amongst its ten university partners. Angela trained and qualified at leading London law firm CMS Cameron McKenna and spent two years post qualification in the corporate department before moving to AIM specialist Memery Crystal where she advised a number of technology companies on their AIM listings. Angela, who joined IP Group in January 2007, specialises in all aspects of corporate and commercial law, along with intellectual property law, having obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Commercial Intellectual Property Law with distinction from Nottingham Law School in June 2006.

Ani manages the Business Support Team which supports many of the IP Group spin-out companies aiding them with company secretarial, financial and administrative support.

Ani has worked for IP Group since January 2005 following the acquisition of Techtran Group Ltd. She joined Techtran in April 2004. Previously, Ani worked for the venture capital group 3i Group plc, working primarily for the new business team, ensuring that the background administration for new investments was carried out accurately.

Anne-Sofie developed her executive search career at two of the leading international executive search firms, Korn Ferry Whitehead Mann and Russell Reynolds. Since she joined IP Group in 2014, with a mandate to build the boards and management teams for the Group’s Technology and Cleantech portfolio companies, she has successfully advised on appointments for companies pre and post seed, through to those listed on AIM. Her early career was in sales at IBM Software in Sweden. Anne-Sofie has an MSc in Business and Economics from Uppsala University.

Ben has spent the last eight years commercialising innovative clean technologies. He represents IP Group on the board of various cleantech portfolio companies, whilst also seeking new high-growth investment opportunities. 

Previously, Ben has held roles in research institutes, government departments, NGOs and major corporates. Ben's last role was in the Carbon Trust, working primarily with corporates and governments to analyse, plan and build multimillion pound low carbon innovation programmes. Ben led international expansion programmes for the Carbon Trust and represented the organisation on the steering committee of the UK's leading energy system model, ESME. Prior to that Ben held roles in the primary research arm of the European Commission (the Joint Research Centre - specifically in the Climate Change team), in renewable energy consulting and in Google's cleantech investment division. Ben holds a first class degree from Durham in Physics and Mathematics and an MSc in Environmental Technologies from Imperial College London.

Brandon joined IP Group in 2016 as the Director of Legal for North America.  He provides legal and operational support at the group and portfolio company levels.  Prior to joining IP Group, Brandon worked at a prominent international law firm focusing on corporate and business transactions.  He is also sensitive to accounting and financial issues having started his professional career as a certified public accountant at one of the of the “Big 4” accounting firms in New York City.  Brandon received a BS in business administration with an emphasis on accounting from the University of Pittsburgh. He also received his juris doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.

Cameron joined IP Group in 2016 as Director, Talent for IP Group, Inc. overseeing recruiting and human capital initiatives at IP Group, Inc. and the portfolio companies in the US. Prior to joining IP Group, Cameron held talent and commercial roles at Renmatix, Inc. a Kleiner Perkins-backed renewable materials company.  Cameron started her talent career with Heidrick & Struggles, a global executive recruiting firm.  In that capacity, Cameron placed c-level and senior management executives in early-stage, mid-cap and Fortune 100 companies across technology, industrial, consumer, and life science sectors. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MS from Columbia University.

Cassie joined IP Group in June 2008 and she specialises in the life science sector. She has a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry and a PhD from the University of Leeds. Prior to joining IP Group, Cassie worked in an early-stage pharmaceutical company where she led drug development programmes from basic research into several successful Phase 2 clinical trials. Cassie also spent a year working in a technology transfer office where she was responsible for raising finance to exploit early-stage opportunities, patent protection and licensing.

Chris joined IP Group in March 2016 as Group Financial Controller heading up finance operations, internal and external reporting, tax and treasury.

Chris has spent the last 10 years in a variety of finance roles in international blue chip companies including Tesco and The Carphone Warehouse, and has extensive experience of working with financial systems.  Chris qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte, and holds an Economics degree from the University of Cambridge.

Chris Klasen joined IP Group in 2017 as Project Manager. Chris works closely across the business development team to support our partnerships with the National Labs and Universities. Prior to IP Group, Chris spent eight years at Pacific Northwest National Lab managing renewable energy and commercialization projects. Chris started his career in the US Navy as an Operations Specialist and a Search and Rescue Swimmer. He received his BA in Marketing from Old Dominion University, his MBA at Colorado State University and he holds a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.

Chris joined IP Group in March 2010 having spent five years at PKF accountants and business advisors. At PKF, Chris worked as a supervisor in the financial reporting team within the technical division. There he was responsible for reviewing and issuing accounting guidance on many of PKF’s listed and AIM traded clients. Prior to this, he was a senior business advisor in PKF’s audit and assurance division where the majority of his clients were in the financial services industry. Chris is a member of the South African institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). He holds an Honours in Financial Accounting and a Bachelor of Commerce (Financial Accounting) from Stellenbosch University.

Prior to joining IP Group, Craig was an Investment Manager at Inventages, one of the world’s largest healthcare focused venture capital funds. He started his career in new product development for Glaxo Wellcome and subsequently worked for a number of early-stage life science companies including co-founding a medtech company that launched a new diagnostic for gastrointestinal disease and a healthcare company based on assets acquired from Reckitt Benckiser. Craig has a first class honours degree in Pharmacy from Cardiff University and a PhD from the School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham. He also holds an MBA with Distinction from the University of Warwick where he was awarded a Sainsbury Management Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Prior to joining IP ground Daniel worked in business development at MRC Technology. Here he was responsible for scouting and in-licensing drug discovery programs from academic groups and out-licensing mature programs to pharma/biotech companies. Before his time at MRCT Daniel obtained a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bath and worked as a scientist in the in Vivo pharmacology team at Envigo before going on to obtain a PhD in Immunology at UCL.

David was appointed to the Board in March 2014 following the acquisition of Fusion IP plc, where he was Chief Executive Officer and one of the founders. David had been a board director of Fusion IP plc since 2004, having been a director of Fusion IP Trading since 2003. Previously, David worked at Celsis International plc from its incorporation to its flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange in July 1993; Toad plc (now 21st Century Technology PLC), which he also co-founded where he was responsible for taking the company from start-up to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. David was also CFO of Codemasters Limited, the UK's largest privately held games company.

In this role Debby is responsible for introducing a professional business infrastructure for companies within the IP Group portfolio. Previously, Debby has worked for blue chip companies such as Siemens A & D, Siemens Business Services and Boots The Chemists in customer care and project coordination roles and is now bringing her commercial experience to bear in supporting the portfolio companies. Debby has a Bachelors degree in Business Information Systems from Leeds Metropolitan University.

Dimitri joined IP Group in 2016 as an Associate, bringing with him five years of investment banking experience from Barclays Bank. Dimitri spent three years in the Barclays Moscow office advising on numerous M&A and capital market transactions. Prior to joining IP Group he worked for two years in the London Technology, Media and Telecoms team at Barclays Investment Bank. Dimitri now works with the Group’s US assets across market segments. He speaks English, German, Russian and French fluently. Dimitri holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham.

Ali co-founded Techtran Group Ltd and was the Chief Operating Officer of Techtran when it was acquired by IP Group in January 2005. She was a director of IP Group until July 2013 when she moved into a new role with the Company as Director of IP Impact. Previously, Ali spent five years at McKinsey & Co where she consulted primarily to the pharmaceutical and health care sectors. Prior to McKinsey, Ali spent four years as a development chemist for Zeneca, performing technical roles in the speciality chemicals and agrochemicals divisions. Ali holds an MBA from Manchester Business School, a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and a first class degree in Chemistry from the University of Glasgow. Ali is a trustee of Care International UK, one of the world’s three biggest aid agencies working with 82m people in 87 countries.

Sam has 18 years' experience in the biotechnology industry, both as a top-ranked equity analyst in the City and, subsequently, as an entrepreneur and Chief Executive. From 2002 to 2007 he worked at Lehman Brothers where he was ranked the number one European biotechnology equity analyst by Institutional Investor magazine three years in a row, before becoming Industry Group Leader for Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals. Sam left Lehman Brothers in 2007 to establish Modern Biosciences (MBS), an IP Group Plc portfolio company focused on the development of novel treatments for chronic, inflammatory diseases. MBS’ lead drug for rheumatoid arthritis is currently in Phase 1 studies and is the subject of a £176m Option and Licensing agreement with Janssen Biotech Inc. (J&J), signed in November 2014. As well as being CEO of MBS, Sam oversees IP Group's biotechnology portfolio and sits on the Group’s Executive Committee. He is a board member of the UK BioIndustry Association (BIA), a non-executive director of Diurnal Group plc and C4X Discovery Holdings Plc, and serves on the Translational Awards Advisory Committee of the British Heart Foundation (BHF). Sam has a PhD from Cambridge University and an MA in Pure and Applied Biology from Oxford University.

Duncan joined IP Group in 2009 to head up the Group’s Newcastle-based team, managing the Finance for Business North East Technology Fund. Duncan has been involved in venture capital fund management since 2000 and has led numerous transactions, ranging from seed through MBO and secondary buy out, across a range of sectors. He has also been deeply involved in fund raising, limited partnership formation and management, has served on the Boards of two General Partners and a number of portfolio companies. Duncan graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne with a Masters in Industrial Biotechnology and a BSc in Medical Microbiology. He is an FCA Approved Person, holds the FCA Investment Management Certificate and the Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors.

Prior to joining IP Group, Gerlinde gained 16 years' HR experience in global companies. She led organisational design and development projects for TUI Travel PLC, acted in HR Business Partner and Talent Development capacities at American Express, and held various HR roles at KPMG and Compaq Computers. She has an MSc in Psychology from the University of Vienna and an MBA from the Open University.

Greg Smith joined IP Group as Group Financial Controller in January 2008 and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in June 2011. Previously Greg spent three years at Tarchon Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar fund of hedge funds business where he had day to day responsibility for building and managing the operations and accounting team as well as external operational due diligence on investee hedge funds. Prior to Tarchon, Greg spent four years in KPMG’s London Financial Services practice working with asset management, insurance and banking clients. Greg is a Chartered Accountant and holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick.

At PwC, Helen worked as an Assistant Manager within the Asset Management department where she focused on the audits of various types of investment funds. She holds a degree in Finance & Accounting and a Masters degree in Accounting, both from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Prior to this Ida worked at Yorkshire Universities as an Executive Assistant and Office Manager, working with 12 higher education institutions across Yorkshire. Ida is originally from Norway and has lived and worked in the UK since 2012.

Previously, Jamie was Head of New Ventures at the Carbon Trust where he designed and launched the UK Government-funded Entrepreneurs Fast Track to incubate start-ups. He also created multi-million dollar corporate venturing partnerships with companies such as General Electric, facilitating the availability of major corporate money to drive cleantech innovation. Prior to that, he worked directly for two venture capital-backed solar energy companies, driving growth through a broad range of business development roles. Jamie has a first class honours degree in Engineering and a Masters from Cambridge University and is a Chartered Engineer.

Jason joined IP Group in 2014 with extensive experience developing and commercialising healthcare technology in a variety of settings. He joins directly from photonic therapy startup, LiteCure, where he served as Director of Clinical Affairs, Director of Marketing and Product Manager. Jason spent 4 years with W.L. Gore as a Product Specialist in the Medical Division where he developed and managed products for bariatric and colorectal surgery and biliary stenting. He has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and an MS and BS in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Joyce has worked in London, New York, Hong Kong, and Paris, and speaks fluently English, French, and Mandarin. Joyce is a CFA charterholder and holds a Master’s degree in Finance from ESCP Europe.

Kashmira holds a Masters in Commerce (specialising in law and practice of banking and monetary policy) from the University of Pune. Before joining IP Group, she was with ABN Amro Bank NV for 3 years in the foreign exchange remittances and treasury back office department, having previously worked at a firm of Chartered Accountants where she gained valuable experience in book keeping, income tax rules, regulations and computations as well as internal/statutory audits. While studying for her Bachelors degree in Commerce, she also worked part time as an accounts assistant.

Kate joined IP Group in 2013 and is responsible for identifying and commercialising intellectual property in the life sciences area from UK universities. Kate has 20 years’ experience in the life sciences sector, working in the NHS, large pharma, public and private sectors. Kate joined IP Group from a clinical development CRO, Quotient Clinical, where she was an executive director directing commercial interactions with clients across Europe. Kate has a PhD in Molecular Virology from the University of Reading and an MBA from the University of Glasgow.

Katie joined IP Group from the Hotel du Pont, the Hospitality division of the global chemical company DuPont, where she was a Catering Sales Manager. Katie spent eight years with the DuPont Hospitality group specializing in customer relations, sales, and main streaming standard operating procedures. Katie has a Bachelors degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from the Penn State University.

Katie Spruance joined IP Group in 2014 and is responsible for assisting the spin-out companies with company secretarial, financial and administrative support. Katie joined IP Group from Synchrogenix where she was Executive Assistant to the CEO. Prior to that, Katie spent six years as Research Manager for Friess Associates, manager of the Brandywine Funds. In that role, Katie supported several senior portfolio managers with their fundamental research, investigation of companies and other data relevant to the funds’ investments. Katie has a Bachelors degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from the University of Delaware.

Lee joined IP Group from the Canadian High Commission in London where he worked for seven years as the Science and Technology Programme Manager, a role focussed on creating technology-centred partnerships between British and Canadian companies, universities and research institutes across the physical sciences landscape. Prior to that, he worked as an Experiment Physicist at the UK’s Atomic Weapons Establishment, running experiments on a high-powered laser facility and designing new diagnostic tools. Lee completed both his undergraduate degree and his DPhil at the University of Oxford’s Chemistry Department and maintains a wide interest in science, technology and engineering matters.

Lewis kicked off his technology startup journey when he co-founded CamGaN as CEO, a spin-out from the University of Cambridge specialising in LED and energy-efficient lighting. He worked with Plessey Semiconductors following its acquisition of CamGaN on business development and corporate strategy for three years before he started his UK/EU-China consulting business with a focus on cross-border flow of goods and capital. Lewis joined IP Group in 2016 as Director Cleantech, seeking exciting investment opportunities as well as representing the group on the boards of various portfolio companies. Outside work Lewis has served as judge/mentor of various business plan competitions across the US and the UK, and runs UK Tsinghua Association as the Secretary General.

Lewis holds a PhD in materials science from the University of Cambridge and a BEng from Tsinghua University, China.

Linda joined IP Group in June 2013 as a part-time business support ledger clerk. Linda is responsible for the invoice management for all of the business support spin-out companies. Liz joined IP Group in 2006 to head up corporate, financial and investor communications. She has extensive experience in this field, having worked on IPOs, fund raisings and M&A transactions. Previously, Liz spent the bulk of her career as a financial journalist, writing for newspapers, magazines, websites and news wires as well as contributing to a book on investing. Most recently Liz was at The Independent newspaper where she covered telecoms and technology stocks and also wrote features and profiles and for the investment column. She has also written for the Financial Times, Thestreet.co.uk and AFX News (now Thomson Reuters), having started her career with Pearson plc on its graduate trainee scheme. Liz sits on the Company's Disclosure Committee and holds the Certificate in IR from the Investor Relations Society.

Manjari, a Rhodes Scholar, has a PhD from the University of Oxford (Mobile Robotics Group) and a bachelors in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (first class with distinction) from the University of Madras. Her PhD research was in the area of applying machine learning to the problem of assessing maps built by outdoor mobile robots. Manjari joined IP Group in April 2015, prior to which she worked in the commercialisation of research at Isis Innovation Ltd and before that post doctoral research in the area of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. At Isis Innovation, she worked primarily in the area of Information Engineering and Computer Science, managing several projects from start to finish including designing and implementing IP protection as well as commercialisation strategy. She was also very closely involved in the Software Incubator, mentoring several software start-ups to implement business strategy as well as raise funds. Manjari works as a business builder in the Technology team with a keen interest in all research areas of Computer Science and Engineering and more particularly in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.

Prior to joining IP Group, Mark was the founder and Managing Director of Remarkable Innovation, a successful Singapore-based technical due diligence company with a range of international Fortune 500 and national government clients. Mark holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, UK.

Mark has been with IP Group since 2008 developing and commercialising healthcare technology innovations primarily from research intensive universities. Mark currently represents IP Group on the Boards of a number of its life science portfolio companies. He joined IP Group from pre-clinical drug discovery CRO, Exelgen, where he was managing director. Mark spent eight years at Exelgen (formerly Tripos Discovery Research) where he also held positions in licensing and strategic affairs, project management and research. He has a PhD in Computational Chemistry, an MSc in Colloid Science and a BSc in Chemistry, all from the University of Bristol. Mark is a Chartered Chemist and member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Melissa has over 15 years of industry experience creating product pipelines and developing commercialisation strategies to start up and grow businesses in polymeric materials, consumer products, medical devices, textiles and apparel segments. She has worked across the full product life cycle spectrum, including patenting and inventing, creating strategic multi-generational product development plans, marketing and rebranding, commercialisation strategy implementation, industry partner licensing and distribution, and exit strategy.

Melissa started her career as a research chemist with E.I. DuPont de Nemours, where she patented and commercialised technology in textile finishes, fashion apparel, and consumer products. After DuPont, she worked for W.L. Gore as a product specialist overseeing product development, manufacturing, regulatory, and sales for a general surgery product. Melissa built a technology commercialisation and strategy company, working with diverse clients in the regenerative medicine medical product sector. Melissa was hired by Kensey Nash and Aimago to redefine corporate growth and product launch strategies, leading them both to successful acquisition by industry leaders. Melissa has a PhD in Polymer Science from The University of Akron, and a B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

Michael is the Managing Director of IP Group's business in North America. Michael has significant experience in early stage investing and international capital markets as well as building and managing international organisations. An American who resided in the UK for more than a decade, Michael has spent over 15 years in a variety of senior investment banking and private equity roles including heading both the Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital private capital markets teams in London. From 2006-2009 Michael was MD of Capital Markets for an emerging market technology investment company where he helped lead investment in over 15 companies based on university IP across 6 different countries. Prior to joining IP Group, Michael served as CFO of The Climate Group (TCG), an international network of business and government leaders seeking to advance policies, technologies and capital investment in sustainable economic development. Michael holds a BS of business administration and accounting from Bucknell University and an MBA from the London Business School where he also studied at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai, PRC.

Mike joined IP Group's Board in 2007 from Lehman Brothers where he was Managing Director of European Equities and Head of Equity Sales to Hedge Funds. He has 17 years experience in all aspects of equity capital markets and the investment process and was also a key member of the senior relationship management programme at Lehman Brothers. Prior to this, he was an Executive Director at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette with responsibility for building the bank’s business with hedge funds and alternatives. Mike has sourced, co-led or led numerous private and public transactions. He is the IP Group representative on the boards of Modern Water plc, Revolymer plc and Applied Graphene Materials plc. He is also a non-executive director of Green Urban Transport Ltd.

Nena joined IP Group in 2014. Nena brings physical sciences expertise to the US team and will be working in collaboration with Jason Smith and the UK-based Technology division on the assessment of opportunities at Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Columbia universities.

Nena has experience developing microtechnology solutions for automotive, consumer and healthcare segments. Nena spent the past 15 years developing innovative solutions for design and mass production of chemical, acoustic, magnetic, infrared and multifunctional sensor arrays, inkjet and electromagnetic actuators, microfluidic devices, as well as compact and portable diagnostics. She led university technology transfer efforts for several start-up companies, including technical due diligence, product positioning and go-to market strategies. Nena has a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and a BS in Engineering Physics from the University of Belgrade.

Peter heads up the Group's New Business & Partnerships division. He joined IP Group in March 2014 following the acquisition of Fusion IP plc, where he was Co-Founder and Operations Director. Peter has a PhD in Biochemistry from Cardiff University and has previously worked at Genzyme UK Limited; Celltech Limited; Enzymatix Limited and Celsis plc, which he co-founded and took to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. He was appointed to the Board of Fusion IP plc on 1 December 2004, having been a director of Fusion IP Trading since 2 January 2003.

Graham was Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford and a leading figure in the field of computer aided drug design and was also the scientific founder of Oxford Molecular Group plc. Graham was awarded the Royal Society Mullard Award for his work on the development of the methods of computer-aided molecular design, their application and exploitation and has been named as the recipient of the American Chemical Society's Award for computers in chemical and pharmaceutical research. Graham stepped down from IP Group's Board in May 2013. Puneeta is PhD trained pharmacologist with 11 years’ experience in drug discovery.  Prior to joining IP group Puneeta worked at Charles River, a multinational Contract Research Organisation, as a Principal Scientist leading early drug discovery projects for biotech and large pharma companies. Puneeta started her career at Novartis, as a post-doctoral scientist and subsequently continued working as an Investigator focusing on respiratory disease and inflammation.  Puneeta obtained a PhD from Imperial College and BSc from Kings College London and has authored on a number of published scientific papers.

Robert has been working in technology venture for over 9 years, focussing on cleantech and materials opportunities. He has experience both as an investor, as a manager of start-ups and as a strategy consultant. Prior to joining IP Group in 2011, he was Head of Research and Development at the Carbon Trust, where he set up their “Research Challenge” technology venturing initiative, which created and capitalised innovative companies in advanced photovoltaics, second-generation biofuels and fuel cells.

He started his career in fuel cells working for Johnson Matthey and then as the leader of the materials and process development teams at Ceres Power, which listed on AIM in 2004. He has also worked as a strategy consultant for McKinsey & Company, where he focussed on strategy and operations in the energy, technology and materials sectors. He has a triple First and a PhD from the University of Cambridge and won the 1996 Goldsmiths Prize as the top Cambridge graduate in Materials Science.

Sameena Joined IP Group in June 2010 on a temporary basis and became permanent in February 2011.

Scott has worked closely with multinational corporations, universities, individual researchers, and government agencies to commercialise fundamental research and emerging technologies for over 20 years. He previously developed the customer engagement, investment, and monetization strategies for Intellectual Ventures’ media, telecommunications, and enterprise data portfolios.  Prior to that, he was responsible for IP/technology licensing and the development of hardware and software security solutions for Cryptography Research.

Scott helped lead Dolby’s patent pool efforts in wireless technology and served as GE’s Vice President of Technology Ventures. Before GE, he worked at Microsoft where he developed products, provided strategic guidance to product teams, and negotiated worldwide technology/patent licensing agreements.

Scott has presented and published in numerous technical areas including information security, cloud computing, and wireless broadband.  He is an inventor on over 20 patents, a member of the IEEE, American Bar Association, and other professional organizations and holds a Ph.D. in Telecommunications from Pennsylvania State University, a law degree from George Washington University, and an MBA from Indiana University.

Simon has spent most of his career in commercial positions within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He has worked to develop the markets and business for cutting-edge genomics technologies at both Bio-Rad laboratories and Applied Biosystems, and develop the early-stage advanced therapeutics/biotechnology business in Europe for Covance Laboratories. Prior to this Simon led a molecular biology research and development team in Cell Analysis; a start-up biotechnology company developing novel molecular diagnostics technologies for human and veterinary diseases. He gained his PhD from the University of York working on the molecular and biochemical interactions between obligate symbiotic bacteria and their eukaryotic hosts, holds an MSc. from Nottingham University and a BSc. from the University of Leeds.

Simon re-joined the IP Group life sciences team in 2012 with a wide background in technology investment and commercialisation across the healthcare sector. Simon has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry, and is a Chartered Engineer. Simon joined IP Group from Ceramex Ltd, a corporate spin-out of the Hexadex Group in the heavy duty automotive sector where his role as Operations Director covered all operational, product development and R&D aspects of the business. Previously he was at IP Group, responsible for investments in medical technology businesses, and subsequently joined the regenerative medicine company, Tissue Regenix Group, one of his investee companies, as Commercial Director.

Stuart previously worked in GE HealthCare’s Medical Diagnostics business, where he led the development of the company's in vitro diagnostics portfolio for their R&D function. He was a founder member of GE's Global Biotechnology Research Council which was tasked with developing innovation through integration of the GE businesses. He also led the Cellular and Molecular Biology team for their Medical Imaging division. Prior to this, Stuart established a research laboratory in New Zealand as a Research Fellow for Diabetes UK. Here he studied diabetes in the native Maori population. He gained his PhD from the University of Nottingham while developing intravascular stent technology for Sulzer-Vascutek Ltd and holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology from Cardiff University.
