David Baynes

A serial entrepreneur, David’s career has been defined by his passion for both founding and supporting technology start-ups and commercialising innovation, underpinned by his expertise in finance and accounting. His role at IP Group covers both finance as well as all facets of the day to day running of IP Group.
David was appointed to the IP Group Board in March 2014 following the acquisition of Fusion IP plc – an IP commercialisation company he co-founded in 2003, where he was Chief Executive Officer. While at IP Group, David has sat on a number of portfolio company Boards and has been instrumental in steering positive outcomes for stakeholders.
Previously, David worked at Celsis International plc from its incorporation to its flotation on the full list of the London Stock Exchange in July 1993 and also at Toad plc (now 21st Century Technology PLC) which he also co-founded and where he was responsible for taking the company from start-up to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange. Originally qualifying as an accountant, David was also CFO of Codemasters Limited, the UK's largest privately held games company.
