Our focus areas

IP Group is increasingly focused on companies whose products and services meaningfully contribute to a:

  • healthier
  • tech-enriched; and
  • regenerative future.

Given the breadth of innovation in science and technology, these themes will not be exhaustive.

Life Sciences

Our life sciences team is working towards a healthier future with a view to curing and preventing disease rather than simply treating symptoms. In doing so, its ambition is to help ensure people are living healthier, rather than just longer, lives.

The three pillars of our approach are:

  1. Reprogramming cells to change their behaviour from diseased mode to healthy mode
  2. Reconditioning tissues to improve response to existing therapies
  3. Redirecting patient behaviour to reduce risk.

Companies that exemplify our approach include Istesso (reprogramming cells to treat autoimmunity), Akamis (reconditioning tumours to enhance cancer immunotherapy) and Genomics PLC (redirecting patient behaviour to mitigate the risk of, for example, cardiovascular disease).

Deeptech

Our deeptech team is working towards a tech-enriched future by investing in assets that will deliver digital resilience, create prosperity and enable new human capability. We target differentiated, defensible innovations with a strong value proposition and the potential to disrupt multibillion-dollar global markets.

Key focus areas include applied AI, particularly cyber security (Featurespace and Garrison), next generation networks (AccelerComm), human-machine interfaces (Ultraleap) and future compute (Lumai and Quantum Motion).

Cleantech

Our cleantech platform, Kiko Ventures, is working towards a regenerative future by investing in companies that address the global climate challenge. We target innovators creating scalable climate technology solutions, with focus areas that include renewable electricity and alternative fuels, mobility and transport, greenhouse gas capture/removal and storage, climate risk and change management, and sustainable food and agriculture.

Portfolio companies operating in some of these areas include Oxa (universal vehicle autonomy software), Bramble Energy (fuel cell breakthrough), and C-Capture (transforming carbon capture). Learn more about Kiko Ventures here.
