Dr Sam Williams

Sam is currently Venture Partner, representing IP Group on 9 life sciences portfolio companies, having previously headed up the Life Science division. He has over 30 years in the biotech sector, as a research scientist, investment analyst, entrepreneur and company director. He was the founding CEO of the Group’s portfolio biotech company Istesso, where he now serves as Executive Chairman, and sits on the boards of Pulmocide, Genomics, Microbiotica, Autifony, Gripable and Iksuda Therapeutics. He also represents the combined interests of GSK, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson on the board of Apollo Therapeutics. Prior to founding Istesso, he was a top-ranked equity analyst in the City of London, and holds a PhD in molecular biology from Cambridge and a degree in biology from Oxford.
