New charitable initiatives - new long-term charity partner, IntoUniversity, volunteering days policy and additional one-off donation to 20 charities

05 Aug 2021

IP Group plc (LSE: IPO) ("IP Group" or "the Company" or "the Group"), the developer of intellectual property-based businesses, is pleased to announce a new charity partnership with IntoUniversity, a new, annual ‘charitable volunteering days’ policy for employees and an additional charitable donation to mark its 20th anniversary.

IP Group has agreed a new three-year charity partnership with IntoUniversity, an educational charity that provides an innovative programme that helps young people to raise their ambitions, broaden their horizons, improve attainment, develop soft skills, and gain experience of the world of work, ultimately supporting students to have successful futures. IP Group has committed to a yearly donation of £30,000 which will directly benefit IntoUniversity’s Brixton centre which specialises in support for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects and is based in the Streatham Hill ward of Lambeth, which is among the 25% most deprived neighbourhoods in the country. Since its opening in 2011, the centre has supported more than 5,000 young people.

In addition, IP Group has launched a new ‘volunteering days’ policy which provides each member of staff with a maximum allocation of three volunteering days every year to support charitable causes of their choice. With current levels of staffing, this is equivalent to approximately 315 days a year being available for volunteering.

IP Group is also pleased to announce a one-off charitable donation of £20,000 in 2021 as part of its plans to mark its 20th anniversary. The Group aims to make this donation to 20 causes chosen by staff.

David Baynes, Chief Operating Officer of IP Group plc, said: “We are delighted to launch these new charitable initiatives as part of the Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates. The new partnership with IntoUniversity is closely aligned with IP Group’s purpose by supporting young STEM talent and will benefit the local community while helping nurture future generations of scientists, engineers, and inventors.”

IP Group also aims to support IntoUniversity through events and by promoting volunteering opportunities to its staff. The first such event was an Insight morning hosted virtually by IP Group employees in June.

Hannah Purkiss, Director of Operations for IntoUniversity, said: ‘'IntoUniversity is delighted to be partnering with IP Group in support of our STEM centres and programmes over the next three years. We are very grateful for their generous funding support, which will enable our learning centre in Brixton to continue supporting over 1,000 children and young people each year to achieve their full potential, and we are excited for volunteers from the firm to work with our students across a range of our programmes - acting as inspirational role models and sharing their professional advice and expertise with young people who are seeking careers in the STEM sector.”
