Giving 20 at 20 and charities around the world
30 Nov 2021
This year, as part of the Group’s 20th anniversary, IP Group is running its ‘Giving 20 at 20’ charity scheme. The scheme allows staff from across the Group to nominate a charity to receive a one-time £1,000 donation for a combined total of £20,000. Here, three colleagues share the reasons behind their nominations.

I chose to support Family Services of Montgomery County. As a Board member, I have seen first-hand the great work that the organization does. Its mission is to improve the lives of individuals, children, seniors and families who live in Montgomery County, PA (a large suburb outside of Philadelphia). They offer 10+ programs primarily focused on (i) Family Support and Education, (ii) Health and Wellness, (iii) Assisting Older Adults, (iv) Re-entry Services (helping formerly incarcerated individuals reacclimate to society) and (v) Substance Abuse Prevention. Last year, the organization's programs served over 12,000 individuals.

Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) supports families and offers end of life care for children across Scotland. It is a charity that has helped close friends and I've seen how valued their services can be. I'm sure £1k would be greatly appreciated and would probably be more than the full amount I ever raised from bag packing, bottle stalls and cake sales!

I was aware of the National Youth Science Forum both as a participant many years ago, and through family members and friends who have been part of it. Everyone I know has found it a fantastic program. NYSF is a great program to encourage secondary students to engage more deeply with STEM as a career—it gives high-potential students exposure to world-class science and hands-on experience of what STEM careers look like. The scholarship program means that access can be broadened to students from a non-traditional background and I’m proud that we are able to support it at IP Group as part of our 20 in 21 celebrations.
