OQC Strengthens Executive Team with Appointment of Robert Coutts as CFO

READING, UK – 12 August 2025 – Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC), the UK’s leading quantum computing company, today announced the appointment of Robert Coutts as its CFO. This strategic appointment reinforces OQC’s executive team as the company prepares for global expansion and the launch of its next-generation quantum computer OQC GENESIS, in the US later this year.
Robert brings over a decade of experience in senior financial leadership positions across private and public companies, including notable biotech. Robert started his career at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant and worked across both their Audit,Transactions and Restructuring teams. Following this, he also worked at the Wellcome Trust. His career spans successful private and public capital raises, including a NASDAQ IPO for Achilles Therapeutics, as well as supporting international scale-ups. His appointment marks a significant step in OQC’s journey to accelerate commercialisation and scale globally.
As CFO, Robert joins at a pivotal moment as the company prepares to expand into the United States and deploy its next-generation quantum computer, ushering in the logical era of quantum computing. The company recently released an ambitious roadmap that achieves quantum commercial advantage by 2028, targeting the finance and security sectors.
This announcement follows several major leadership milestones for OQC. Recent strategic appointments include Gerald Mullally as CEO, Sir Jeremy Fleming, former Director of GCHQ, to its Board and Jack Boyer OBE as Board Chairman – cementing OQC’s position as a globally trusted and commercially ambitious quantum leader.
A graduate of Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, Robert now returns to a university spinout that has matured into an internationally recognised quantum computing innovator. With operational deployments already in Tokyo and Spain, OQC is uniquely positioned as the only company integrating quantum technology into commercial data centres and delivering Quantum-Compute-as-a-Service across critical industries including finance, security, and defence.
